[ARCHIVED] The High Ground of Texas Host Annual Regional Economic Development Event

The High Ground of Texas is a regional marketing coalition that covers more than 60 counties in the great state of Texas! In addition to facilitating successful and diverse marketing initiatives, the organization is involved in supplying economic development education, providing a common voice on regional issues, and nurturing relationships with state and federal agencies. The High Ground also instills an environment of networking and generous sharing of knowledge among our members for the purpose of continued regional prosperity.

Annual Meeting events will begin with a tour of the Institute of Environmental and Human Health located at Reese Technology Center. TIEHH is a joint venture between Texas Tech University and the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. The institute's goals are to educate Texas Tech students on environmental and human health issues and to investigate environmental and human health effects caused by toxic chemicals. A goal of TIEHH is also to create teams of researchers who develop quality science and technology to evaluate the impact of toxic substances on the environment and human health and to develop and enhance education and research through partnerships with both industry and government.

The tour will be followed by a Networking Buffet Lunch. The Annual Business Meetings of the High Ground of Texas and the High Ground of Texas Education Foundation will immediately follow the Luncheon. The Annual Meeting program will feature a presentation by ROI-Research on Investment on a recent Marketing Study.

An afternoon Economic Development Workshop is called "Memorable?? Of Course I Am – Aren’t I?" Keys to Tripping Down Memory Lane presented by renown speaker Jerry Gerson, of The Gerson Group. A Partner Showcase & Reception will feature tabletop booths and helpful information hosted by our many Resource Partners. A Silent Auction will benefit the new High Ground of Texas Education Foundation.

The Featured Keynote Speaker at the Banquet is Dr. Lowell Catlett, Regent’s Professor of Economics, Agriculture and Genetic Engineering at New Mexico State University. A nationally sought-after presenter, he will be speaking on "Why Fear Fails and Actions Triumph".
