[ARCHIVED] Foreclosed Properties

Sunset with banner with text

“Properties in trust can often be a burden to the taxpayer,” said City Manager Erik Rejino.  “By actively marketing these properties through TCG we are hopeful that we can get many of these properties back on the tax rolls and back in the hands of someone that will maintain and utilize the property in a productive manner.”

Trust properties are lots and tracts of land which have been foreclosed upon to collect a tax lien due the local governmental entities including the City of Levelland, Hockley County, Levelland ISD, South Plains College and High Plains Underground Water Conservation District. These properties were put up for auction and went unsold at the tax sale. The properties were then “struck-off” the tax rolls of all entities.

Anyone over the age of 18 can submit a bid for a property. However, a successful bidder cannot owe delinquent taxes on other property in the county, owe an unpaid fine or fee to the city and/or county, and/or own other property in the city/county that is subject to existing penalties for code enforcement.

To place a bid, visit the auction website at http://texascg.com/property-list/?location=levelland,  or you can go to the Hockley County Tax Office and submit a bid. Should you meet the requirements listed above and your bid is sufficient and accepted by all entities, the property will be deeded to you upon receipt of the payment of your bid amount plus the amount necessary to cover the cost of the deed and recording fees.

For more information, contact José Cavazos, Assistant City Manager, City of Levelland, at 894-0113.
