During the week of Monday August 18, 2014, MH Civil Constructors will begin work to make improvements to the City’s sewer infrastructure. The work will consist of reconstructing manholes and a sewer crossing along 10th Street and Hickory Street as the line crosses College Avenue. The sewer lines and manholes have been in place for several decades and are in severe need of replacement. This project will help prevent a major sewer overflow in this area.
This construction will take place mostly on College Avenue and over a period of weeks all
or a portion of College Avenue will need to be closed at this intersection. The City and its engineers, Parkhill, Smith, & Cooper, Inc. have worked with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to develop a plan to divert traffic from this intersection. MH Civil Constructors will set up signs directing traffic towards the detours.
“This will only be a temporary inconvenience and will greatly improve sewer service to surrounding residents and businesses,” said Director of Public Works Joe Cavazos. “MH Civil Constructors and Parkhill, Smith, & Cooper will work closely with area businesses and residents to provide temporary access during construction.”
